Newbury College students recently had the opportunity to put their media and photography skills to the test during a Vodafone Discovery Day at the company’s headquarters. This event provided students with a real-world learning experience, giving students a taste of professional work environments while supporting their development for future careers.
Creative students were tasked with capturing headshots of event attendees and providing photography for Vodafone’s marketing department. Through this project, they gained valuable experience in technical photography skills, including lighting, focus, and framing, alongside essential professional practices like teamwork and effective communication.
Victoria Burden, a teacher on the Art and Design programme, said:
“We are so pleased that this new working relationship has been made and hope we can continue to work with Vodafone to give students relevant and real working opportunities.”
Her sentiment was also echoed by Katie Bonar, the internal communications specialist at VOIS:
“It was great to see the students’ confidence grow throughout the session, and we hope it gave them valuable work experience in a professional setting. We look forward to collaborating with the college again in the future!”
