Theatregoers were recently treated to a heavenly performance of Sister Act the Musical, presented by Kingsclere Performing Arts College in partnership with Newbury College – and the response was one of joy and aspiration.
The production, staged at The Lights Theatre in Andover on 03 - 04 April 2025, offered students from Kingsclere Performing Arts the chance to perform in a professional venue, developing the skills and confidence essential for a future in the performing arts, while providing theatre lovers with a professional-calibre show without the West End price tag.
Featuring standout vocal numbers, colourful characters, and lively choreography, the show was based on the beloved 1992 film and featured music by Alan Menken. The production was presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International.
While the performance entertained, it also served as a pivotal learning experience for the students, giving them the chance to hone their stagecraft, grow in confidence, and prepare for the next steps.
Hannah Horton, Principal of Kingsclere Performing Arts College and Producer of the show, said:
"It’s incredibly important for our students to perform to a live audience. It builds their professionalism, resilience and teamwork – all skills they’ll need for successful careers."
Under the direction of Louise Travis, who also provided the principal choreography alongside Joanna Wilson and Emma Payne, with musical direction by Jonathan Eiø, the performance demonstrated the high calibre of training at Kingsclere Performing Arts College.

The partnership between Kingsclere Performing Arts and Newbury College also reflects a shared commitment to preparing students for careers. Through industry-standard performances and opportunities to engage with the public, both institutions aim to create meaningful learning experiences that truly transform lives.

The next opportunity to see students in action will be the Summer Showcase, which will take place 26 - 27 June 2025 at The Haymarket Theatre, Basingstoke. The showcase will include highlights from Sister Act the Musical and new pieces created throughout the year. Schools are invited to attend the matinée performance free of charge.
