Engineering inventors and IT wizards of the future showcased their end of year projects at the Newbury College annual Technology and Computing Project Presentation Day on Tuesday 7 July. The event was opened by Jason Harris, Managing Director of The Machining Centre, Oxfordshire who gave an inspirational talk about his career in Engineering.
Following a welcome by Darran Marks, Curriculum Manager of Technology at Newbury College, guests had the opportunity to view students' work and quiz them about their projects. A range of technology companies exhibited on the day including Xtrac, Williams, Culham, Blatchfords and Schleifring Systems.
The event saw fascinating engineering and computing skills displayed and showcased some of the best local engineering and computing talent in West Berkshire which was rewarded with a prize-giving later in the afternoon. The event was co-ordinated by Newbury College Mechanical Engineering Lecturer, Richard Willis who said, "The students have worked really hard and this was evident in the exhibition. This presentation day provides learners with valuable experience in discussing their work with a wide range of visitors from various engineering and IT backgrounds".
This event included many interactive and aspirational projects, including the work of Chris Prozzo employed at Blatchfords in Basingstoke. Chris developed an adjustable exhaust chamber and regulator for use with an artificial limb.
