Honoured guests and visitors were treated to an afternoon of innovation and inspiration when Engineering Students at Newbury College put on an impressive exhibition of their end of year projects this week. The exhibition was attended by local dignitaries; The Mayor of Newbury, Councilor Arthur Johnson; Chairman of WBC, Councilor Adrian Edwards and Chairman of Greenham Parish Council, Tony Forward.

Employers, learner's families, friends, staff and governors were also there to enjoy the impressive display. The 'Project' presentation will go towards learners final grades for their engineering qualification.

The event took place on 3 July 2012 between 1pm and 4pm and featured work from Mechanical Engineering and Electronics Level 3 Diploma, Higher Level 4 Certificate (HNC) and Higher Level 5 Diploma (HND) learners.

Section Manager Brian Evans said "The Student have excelled. They have been working hard on their projects since September last year. Staff have been impressed with their performance and the way their employers have supported and encouraged them throughout. The exhibition was opened by the Mayor of Newbury and culminated in the presentation of awards for the best exhibits. Projects were judged by the course team leaders Martin Rice, Graham Shelmerdine, Duncan Willis and Richard Willis and the winners and their categories were: Level 3 Mechanical ' Jamie Wood (XTRAC) and John Webb (AWE); Level 3 Electronics ' Zoe Lambden (AWE); Level 4/5 Mechanical ' Sam Moutrie (InterSurgical) and Level 4 Electronics ' Craig Bruce and Matthew Kavanagh (nPower)".

Chris Graham an engineering Apprentice for XTRAC is studying at Newbury College on the BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. His project demonstrates how a motorsport gearbox works. His course tutor was very impressed by the standard of the project and said that if this was built it would be a great teaching and demonstration aid.
