Newbury College joins colleges across the country in celebrating T Levels Week from Monday 13 to Friday 17 October 2025, shining a spotlight on the advanced technical qualifications that are shaping the future workforce. But what exactly are T Levels, and why should employers get involved?

What are T Levels?

T Levels are two-year qualifications for 16–19-year-olds, equivalent to three A Levels. They combine:

  • Classroom learning (around 80%) – giving students the technical knowledge linked to their chosen sector.
  • Industry placement (around 20%) – giving students at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days) of real workplace experience.

This means T Levels create a direct pipeline of motivated, career-ready young people with the skills and experience that businesses are looking for.

Why employers should get involved

By supporting T Levels, employers can:

  • Shape the future workforce:  Help develop the skills your industry needs.
  • Spot potential talent early: Placements give you the chance to meet, mentor, and inspire future employees.
  • Boost your business:  Students bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and technical skills that can add real value.
  • Enhance your reputation: Being part of a national initiative that bridges education and industry demonstrates your commitment to skills development.

At Newbury College, we’re delivering T Levels in areas that align with local and national business needs, including:

  • Digital Support and Security
  • Marketing
  • Management & Administration
  • Media, Broadcast and Production
  • Construction
