University Centre Newbury (UCN) is excited to announce a new partnership with Bournemouth University, which will further enhance the opportunities in West Berkshire to achieve a degree locally.

Starting this September, four new one-year, top-up courses will build on the Higher National Certificate and Higher National Diploma programmes delivered by UCN at Newbury College, allowing students to graduate with a degree in their chosen field.

Lee Jamieson, Deputy Principal, Newbury College and UCN, said:

“This new partnership with Bournemouth University isn’t just about new courses; it's about launching careers.”

“We're incredibly excited to expand our degree offering and provide a direct pathway for our students to develop the high-level skills needed to excel in their future professions, right here in West Berkshire.”

The engineering and sports programmes on offer are:
• BEng (Hons) Engineering Design (Mechanical Engineering)
• BEng (Hons) Engineering Design (Manufacturing Engineering)
• BEng (Hons) Engineering Design (Electrical and Electronic Engineering)
• BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching and Entrepreneurship.

There are still spaces available, and students can apply directly to UCN. In addition, to support the local skills need, the engineering programmes are also offered as degree apprenticeships in partnership with local employers.

Professor Alison Honour, Bournemouth University’s Vice-Chancellor, said:

“We are excited to launch our new partnership with Newbury College, working in collaboration to enhance the outcomes for students in the region. The mix of direct entry and apprenticeship courses will enable us to support people to study in the way which best suits their needs.”
