Newbury College T Level Marketing student, Kailani Lamb, has spent 10 months putting her studies into practice as part of the team at local marketing agency Apple Print & Creative (AP&C).

Kailani became part of the agency team during her industry placement, contributing ideas in client meetings and seeing campaigns come to life while working across social media, websites, email campaigns, research and campaign planning. She also supported reporting, prepared briefs for the design team and spent time with colleagues across the business to see how different parts of an agency work together.

For Kailani, one of the most rewarding parts of the placement was seeing how an initial idea develops into a finished campaign.

She said: “Being part of the process, from the first discussions to the final execution, was so exciting and inspiring to see.

“The AP&C team worked so well together, and watching how they communicate and build on each other’s strengths showed me how good teamwork can bring an idea to life.”

The experience also challenged Kailani to adapt to the pace of agency life. Managing several tasks at once helped her become more organised, confident and comfortable working to deadlines.

She said: “I learned how to prioritise tasks, stay focused and keep work moving even when things were busy.

“My industry placement gave me real experience of working in a professional business environment. It taught me how to handle responsibilities, work confidently in a fast-paced setting and contribute effectively within a team.”

Kailani also completed HubSpot Academy training during her placement, gaining a certificate and adding another digital marketing skill to her experience.

Sophia Bevan from AP&C said Kailani’s progress was clear throughout the 10 months.

She said: “One of the most noticeable impacts was her growth in confidence and willingness to contribute. As her placement progressed, she actively participated in team and client meetings, shared ideas and insights, and took increasing ownership of tasks and responsibilities.

“Her positive attitude and strong work ethic made her a pleasure to work with, and her efforts were recognised and appreciated throughout the business.”

Asked whether AP&C would welcome Kailani back in the future, Sophia added: “We would have Kailani back in a heartbeat.”

Kailani’s contribution has also been recognised closer to home. In June, she received Newbury College’s Best Contribution Award, which celebrates student excellence.

Her nomination recognised the thoughtful and positive contribution she makes to Marketing, as well as her dedication, organisation, time management and support for others.

The combination of classroom learning and sustained time in the workplace is a key part of the T Level experience. For Kailani, it has provided the chance to test her skills in a real agency, learn directly from professionals and build a clearer picture of where a career in marketing could take her.
