Senior members of the Equinix team recently visited Newbury College to engage with apprentices who are part of an innovative Installation and Maintenance Electrician Apprenticeship. This initiative is a testament to the relationship between Newbury College and Equinix, the world’s digital infrastructure company, aimed at moulding the next generation of technicians.
The visit showcased the synergy between industry-leading expertise and academic excellence. Apprentices had the opportunity to exhibit their prowess directly to Equinix executives, illustrating the tangible impacts of their training. The apprenticeship programme, meticulously tailored to align with Equinix's operational and strategic requirements, epitomises a blend of in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on experience.
Facilities such as the Engineering Solutions Lab, the Renewables Centre and University Centre Newbury were highlights of the tour, demonstrating the college’s commitment to state-of-the-art learning environments.
Cllr Nigel Foot, Mayor of Newbury, joined the visit as a supporter of the initiative, expressing how partnerships such as this one between Equinix and Newbury College, are setting a benchmark for how educational collaborations can substantially elevate local talent and fortify our community's economic future.
