AWE has launched its annual apprenticeship recruitment campaign targeting school leavers and college students, to become the next generation of engineers.

Applications for the award winning AWE apprenticeship programme open today and are available via the AWE website www.awe.co.uk/careers, with a start date in September 2016.

Newbury College is one of a number of local providers supporting the AWE apprenticeship campaign who have had a number of students successfully complete the programme and go on to become successful engineers.

AWE's nationally recognised Skills Academy will see Apprentices work on site to achieve an NVQ qualification combined with day release to College to achieve a Level 3 Technical Certificate.

Applications for AWE Engineering Apprenticeships are invited in the following areas:

Geoff Druce, Head of Learning and development at AWE, comments "The AWE Apprenticeships are an excellent chance for  young people with an interest in engineering to gain real workplace experience in the engineering industry whilst gaining a work based qualification, and earning at the same time. At the end of their training, the Apprentices will be fully qualified engineers with highly successful and well paid careers ahead of them."

AWE is holding an open day for school leavers and college students to find out more about the AWE apprenticeship programme and to speak to apprentices and instructors on Tuesday 1st December, 3pm-8pm at Tadley Library, Mulfords Hill.
