To celebrate Colleges Week 2026, we are sharing student stories that show how vocational and technical learning is helping people build skills, confidence, and a clear route into work. Hear from Level 3 vocational students Saria Dance and Elliott Taylor, Degree Apprentice Ike Shackleton and his employers at Westek Technology Ltd.
Engineering Apprentice, Leo Delaney, is showcasing Newbury College’s “careers not courses” ethos on an international stage after helping to build and install specialist engineering machinery for Curtiss-Wright Surface Technologies (CWST) in Sweden.
National Apprenticeship Week wasn’t just a celebration; it was an opportunity for employers to take stock of their skills strategy and focus on building the capability their business needs, now and for the future.
At Newbury College and University Centre Newbury (UCN) we have celebrated another successful year of apprenticeships with our annual Apprenticeship Awards, recognising the people and businesses powering skills and careers across the community during National Apprenticeship Week (09–15 February 2026).
