Prepare to be mesmerised by the expertise of UK Sommelier of the Year 2019, Romain Bourger, who has meticulously paired an array of Vineyard Cellars' finest wines with the series of exquisite dishes. These culinary creations are the brainchild of Executive Chef Tom Scade, promising a symphony of flavours in every bite.

Our aspiring chefs from The Restaurant at Newbury College will step into the limelight under Chef Scade’s guidance, bringing to life the renowned Vineyard experience through their skilled hands.

Your senses are in for a treat with a delectable five-course menu, each dish thoughtfully complemented by wines that accentuate their unique flavours. This experience also offers an insightful journey into the world of wines, with the chance to delve deeper into their stories and, if you're captivated, the opportunity to add them to your own collection later in the evening.

    Romain Bourger - Vineyard Cellars

    Romain is a native of the French Mosel and became interested in the world of wine during his hospitality studies. He passed his sommelier exam and moved to England in 2008 to work at Hotel du Vin Winchester after having spent a month and a half there as a trainee a few months before. He then moved on to work at The Vineyard Hotel in Newbury where he started as a Sommelier and is now the Director of Wine and Beverage, working also closely with the Vineyard Cellars, The Vineyard Group wine distributor. Romain has won the Young Sommelier of the Year Competition in 2016, won an Acorn Award in 2018 and the UK Sommelier of the Year in 2019.

    Tom Scade - The Vineyard

    Executive Chef, Tom Scade, creates elegant works of art using the finest locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.

    Tom has worked in some of the best kitchens in the UK and trained under John Williams MBE at The Ritz, London, where he was instrumental in maintaining and delivering the highest quality in line with their Michelin star.

    He has gone on to win a string of accolades, including winning the UK finals of the prestigious Le Taittinger Prix Culinaire in 2018 before coming third in the world finals later that year.

    Tom incorporates the Vineyard's Californian heritage into his menus, mixing wines and olive oil from the Peter Michael Winery into many of his dishes. He prefers to present his food on a truly blank canvas - each dish a piece of artwork in a gastronomic gallery.
