  • Description

    Across the four-year programme you will develop your individual managerial and leadership capabilities within the changing business environment. Through acquiring subject knowledge and practical skills to advance your leadership capabilities, you will develop confidence to deal with a variety of real management and business situations as well as gain a highly desirable BA (Hons) Management.

    The Degree Apprenticeship programmes combines university study with work-based learning, allowing you to dedicate 20% of your normal working hours (off-the-job) to develop your academic skills aligned to your professional development in the workplace. You will learn through a variety of methods including in-person sessions, guided independent and workplace learning, portfolio building, tutorials and group discussions with your course tutors and peers. You will also benefit from expert tutors and guest professionals who will personally illustrate the best practices of management, global and national market trends, technological innovations that impact business strategies and ethical challenges for change.

    The course curriculum is rich and varied, encompassing a wide range of subjects, such as Information Management, Accounting and Finance, Foundations of Marketing, Operations Management, Managing in Organisations, Strategic Management of the Digital Organisations, Career Development and Organisational Change. Tutors with extensive industry expertise will work with you to further develop you and your management career through a strong focus on reflective practice, thinking critically and analysing and evaluating complex situational problems.

    Behaviours required across these areas include responsibility, inclusiveness, agility and professionalism, aiming for resilience, trust-building, flexibility and ethical conduct in all work aspects.

    Through the programme, you will acquire the essentials of organisational performance aimed at achieving long-term goals, divided into three main areas: Organisational Performance, Interpersonal Excellence and Personal Effectiveness. These elements work together to support professionals in enhancing their contribution, leadership and personal growth, underpinning the achievement of organisational objectives and personal career development.

    An apprenticeship is a genuine job and under all circumstances an apprentice will be employed from day one. Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study.

  • Entry Requirements

    Apprenticeships are available to anyone over the age of 16, living in England and have no upper age limit. Any vacancies will clearly state what the entry requirements are for the job role being advertised. There will be different entry requirements depending on the company and role.

    A typical offer would be BCC at A-Level or DMM at BTEC. Applications are welcome from students with a range of non-traditional educational or professional qualifications. We also welcome mature students and students who have undertaken Access courses.

    As a minimum: 3 GCSE's Grade A-C / 9-4 or Level 2 equivalent to include Mathematics and English Language.

    Plus at least one of the following: 1 A Level, or, 1 Level 3 qualification, or Access to Higher Education Diploma. In exceptional circumstances applicants will be considered on the submission of an extended Curriculum Vitae, satisfactory professional references and a successful interview.

    If English is not your first language, an IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5.5 in all bands is required.

    Independent study skills and good time management skills are needed.

    Willingness to learn independently and apply learning in your current workplace. Access to a PC and intermediate IT skills are essential.

  • Qualification

    BA (Hons) Management awarded by University of Northampton. There is also the option to be assessed for Chartered Manager status.

  • Progression

    Successful apprentices will have the option to apply for professional recognition as Chartered Managers and Members of the Chartered Management Institute (CMgr MCMI) and/or as a member of the Institute for Leadership & Management or other relevant professional body.

  • Assessment

    Through their apprenticeship, learners gain the technical knowledge, practical experience, and wider skills they need for their job and career. Apprentices will have their skills, knowledge and behaviours evaluated at the end of their apprenticeship by taking an end-point assessment (EPA).

    Individuals without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level and take the test for Level 2 English and maths prior to taking the end-point assessment.

  • Home Study

    Apprentices are expected to study through a mix of workplace learning, formal off-the-job training and the opportunity to practice new skills in a real work environment. The time spent on off-the-job training should be at least 20% and should be included as part of working hours. The employer must allow time to complete the apprenticeship within the working hours, however, some homework may be set by tutors or Development Coaches.

  • Work Placement

    This is a work-based programme and is studied as part of an apprenticeship.

  • Fees and Additional Costs

    If you are between the ages of 16 and 24, you will not have to fund your own tuition. It is your employer and the government who cover the fees.

    If you are over 25, you may be asked to contribute towards the cost of your training, but it depends on your employer. If you do have to contribute to the cost of training, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.

    The cost of training an apprentice is dependent on their age and whether or not the business pays the Apprenticeship Levy. There are a range of different grants and incentives available to employers. Contact us for up-to-date information and advice on the funding support available.
