  • Entry Requirements

    Five GSCE passes at grade 4/C or above, preferably to include Maths and English or an equivalent vocational qualification at merit grade, and Functional Skills Maths and English, preferably at Level 2.

    Students who have not yet achieved grade 4/C in GCSE Maths and English, will study Functional Skills or GCSE Maths and English as part of their course.

    A strong sense of commitment, self-discipline, and a passion for public service are key to success in this diploma. A good level of physical fitness is important, and an ability to work as part of a team will greatly benefit you throughout the programme.   • Progression

    On successful completion, you will be well-prepared to apply for roles within the police, fire service, armed forces, or other uniformed services. You will also have the option to further your education, possibly progressing to higher education or specialist training programmes. Whichever path you choose, this diploma gives you the skills and confidence to take the next step towards your career in the uniformed services.

  • Assessment

    You will be assessed through a combination of practical assessments, coursework, and written assignments. These assessments are designed to evaluate your understanding of service roles and procedures, your ability to apply knowledge in realistic scenarios, and your personal development in areas such as leadership and communication.

  • Home Study

    Expect 5 - 6 hours of regular homework assignments that support your learning, including research projects, fitness tasks, and reflective exercises. This work will help deepen your knowledge of the services and give you the opportunity to think critically about the responsibilities you will face in a uniformed role.

  • Work Placement

    You may have the opportunity to participate in work experience where you can gain hands-on experience. Please note that due to the limitations of public service workplaces, it may not be possible to access work placements in your chosen field. You will also engage with inspiring speakers from the industry who will share insights about their roles and career paths. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to visit various workplaces to observe professionals in action

  • Fees and Additional Costs

    If you are over 18 there may be registrations fees if you have not previously registered with the exam board. Students will be offered the opportunity to visit exhibitions and shows and these may require students to pay entrance fees and transportation costs. Students will also take part in outdoor activities such as kayaking and rock climbing as well as an expedition, these activities may incur additional costs, including the need to have sensible clothing and footwear to undertake these activities. Students may also benefit from purchasing textbooks the details of these books will be discussed during induction when the latest edition of books will be recommended.
