  • Qualification

BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art, Design and Media Practice

  • Progression

Upon completing the BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma, you'll be well-prepared to move into a Level 4 Foundation Diploma, higher education or pursue entry-level roles in the creative industries. Many students continue their journey in art, design, or media by progressing to university degrees or higher national diplomas (HNDs). Alternatively, you could use your portfolio to start working in areas like graphic design, photography, animation, or other creative roles. This programme sets you up with a strong foundation to follow your artistic ambitions wherever they lead!

  • Assessment

Assessment for the vocational elements of this programme is entirely based on coursework. You'll create a portfolio of work throughout the programme, and your projects will be assessed on your creativity, technical skills, and ability to communicate ideas. This practical approach means you get to focus on developing a body of work that you're proud of, with regular feedback from tutors to help you improve.

  • Home Study

You will be expected to work independently for approximately 4 hours a week between in-college sessions and remotely via Microsoft Teams as required.

  • Work Placement

You will participate in structured work experience and/or work placements that develop skills and knowledge relevant to this qualification and the local and national art, design and media industry sectors.

  • Fees and Additional Costs

All students are asked to contribute £15 towards the College Subscription Fund and £100 towards creative materials per year. This includes general day to day tools and materials. Offsite visits to museums and galleries will also incur a separate cost. Financial support may be available.
