Are you interested in developing a career in care but not sure what route would suit you best? The Introduction to Health, Social Care and Child Care will develop the knowledge and awareness of the different types of provision in the Health, Social Care and Children's and Young People's sectors. It includes the roles played by workers, from principles and values through to health and safety and working with others.

Description
Throughout the programme you will develop an understanding of the different care settings which will enable you to make an informed decision for your chosen Level 2 route.
You will gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required for employment and/or career progression in the sectors. What you learn will be tailored to your interests through the development of knowledge and skills in a broad range of optional units, supporting your progression to Level 2 qualifications in health, social care or childcare and onto a range of job roles in the care sectors.
You'll also develop transferable skills that will support multiple career pathways.

Entry Requirements
To get started on this programme you'll need four GCSE passes at grade 2 or above, preferably to include Maths and English, or a vocational qualification at pass or above, and Functional Skills Maths and English preferably at Entry Level 3.
If you do not currently have Level 4 or above in English/mathematics, you will continue to study these alongside your Health, Social Care and Child Care programme.
To succeed in the sector you will need to focus on developing your communication skills, good time-keeping and organisation. We will support you in developing these throughout your programme.

NCFE CACHE Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children's and Young People's Settings

Progression
After successfully completing this Level 1 Diploma, you'll be ready to take the next step onto eitherLevel 2 Child Care or Level 2 Health and Social Care programme or may choose to look for apprenticeships at Level 2.

Assessment
You'll be assessed through a combination of written assignments, practical activities, and observations. These assessments are designed to help you demonstrate your understanding and application of the skills and knowledge gained during the programme.

Home Study
You'll have a minimum of two hours of homework to complete per week. This will help to reinforce your understanding and showcase your independent learning skills.

Work Placement
You'll have the chance to participate in work experience where you can gain hands-on experience. We also ensure you engage with inspiring speakers from the industry who will share insights about their roles and career paths. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to visit various workplaces to observe professionals in action.
