You'll move beyond simply turning on a computer and start mastering essential tasks like organising digital files, using search engines to find specific information, and understanding the basics of online safety and privacy.

    Throughout the programme we will cover five key pillars to ensure a well-rounded foundation:

    • Using Devices and Handling Information: Navigating operating systems and managing folders.

    • Creating and Editing: Using word processing software to draft simple documents or editing basic images.

    • Communicating: Sending professional emails and using social media responsibly.

    • Transacting: Managing online accounts and making secure digital payments.

    • Being Safe and Responsible: Recognizing "phishing" attempts and protecting personal data.

    The goal of this programme is to provide you with the "digital literacy" required for modern life and entry-level employment, ensuring no one is left behind in an increasingly paperless world.

    Basic IT Skills

    An interest in developing your basic IT skills and developing your digital literacy.

  • Qualification

    Digital Functional Skills Entry 3 - Certificate

  • Progression

    Digital Functional Skills Level 1

  • Assessment

    Initial Assessment via Skills Builder, then 4 weeks assessed learning followed by 4 task assessment.

  • Home study

    You'll be expected to complete around 10 hours self-directed study outside of the classroom.

  • Work placement

    There is no placement element attached to this programme however you'll be encouraged to practice what you have learnt outside of the classroom between classes.
