Creative Media

Develop the critical, creative, and practical skills needed for success in art, design, and related creative industries. Throughout this programme you will build an informed awareness of different artistic perspectives and approaches, learning how to research, analyse and evaluate information to generate innovative ideas and creative solutions.

You will be supported to develop confidence in using a range of practical and technical methods safely and effectively, applying these skills to solve complex creative challenges. You will also refine your ability to review and evaluate your own work, taking responsibility for learning, decision-making, and personal development.

The development of strong organisational skills, including research, planning and time management, will enable you to pursue progression opportunities with independence. You will also practice and enhance your ability to present yourself and your creative outcomes professionally to a variety of audiences.

Minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English and Maths.

You'll have an interest in exploring and developing original ideas, along with basic media and technical skills such as capturing and editing media content. Good organisation and time-management skills are also essential, as students often plan recordings, manage workflows, and work independently outside class time. Above all, motivated learners who are eager to experiment, develop their creative practice, and build a professional portfolio will thrive on this programme.

Level 3 Diploma in Creative media, production and technology

Following the achievement of this programme you'll have the opportunity to study the Top-Up Extended Diploma and progress to degree level courses, employment in media production, film, television or other creative subjects.

Assessment is entirely coursework-based and focuses on practical, creative project work. Learners are assessed through a mixture of observations, short tests, written tasks and project-based assignments, all designed to mirror real industry practices.

Because the course is heavily project-based, students are often required to work independently outside of class time to develop ideas, plan productions, carry out research, and complete practical tasks.

As part of the wider study programme,you will have the opportunity to take part in work experience to help you develop real-world skills and gain insight into the creative media industry.
