Prepare for the T Level Building Services Engineering (Electrical) with a Level 2 Foundation year that covers all of the main skills and knowledge required to progress to further learning and training, or to enter the world of work within the electrotechnical sector.


  • Description

    This one-year T Level Foundation programme is designed to deliver the underlying principles and practical skills required to participate in the T Level Building Services Engineering (Electrical), as well as getting an overview of the principles of electrical installation, building technology and terminology used.

    You will study the following mandatory content:

    • Electrical Installations
    • Installation of wiring systems and enclosures
    • Health and Safety
    • Scientific Principles
  • Entry Requirements

    Five GCSE passes at grade 3 or above, to include Maths (4+) and English, or equivalent vocational qualification at merit grade, and Functional Skills Maths and English.

    Good hand-eye coordination is desirable but not essential.

  • Qualification

    City and Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Electrical Installation (8202 -20)

  • Progression

    The primary aim of this programme is to prepare you for participation in the T Level Building Services Engineering (Electrical), an apprenticeship or an entry position with training in the electrotechnical industry.

  • Assessment

    You must successfully achieve the following assessments:

    • Multi Choice theory Exam
    • Practical Synoptic Assignment
    • Employer Engagement
  • Home Study

    You are expected to complete approximately 2 - 3 hours of self-study per week and take responsibility for your own independent learning and research.

  • Work Placement

    There are no mandatory requirements for industry placements during the foundation year, however, you will undertake meaningful work-related activity involving employers during your programme.
