Description
This full-time programme is delivered over one or two years, depending on your progression:
- Year 1: UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication
- Year 2: UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication (requires successful completion of Year 1 and re-enrolment)
You will explore a range of creative disciplines through project-based learning, studio practice, and contextual studies. The programme includes the following mandatory units:
- Unit 1: The Creative Process
- Unit 2: Developing Creative Practice
- Unit 3: Responding to a Set Brief
- Unit 4: Researching a Specialist Industry Practice
- Unit 5: Specialist Technical Skills Development
- Unit 6: Specialist Creative Outcome
You will have access to specialist facilities and resources, and opportunities to participate in exhibitions, competitions, and live briefs.

Entry Requirements
Five GCSE passes at grade 4 (C) or above, preferably to include Maths and English or an equivalent vocational qualification at merit grade, and Functional Skills Maths and English, preferably at Level 2.
Students aged 16 - 19, who have not yet achieved grade 4 (C) in GCSE Maths and English, will study Functional Skills or GCSE Maths and English as part of their course.
All applications will also be considered based on prior experience in creative practice. Some experience in creative practice such as researching, observational drawing, photography, recording ideas and thoughts and developing ideas is desirable.

You can demonstrate your potential to succeed by sharing examples of personal, physical, or digital creative artwork, such as a portfolio of artwork, a selection of successful photographs, a personal sketchbook or online artwork.

Upon successful completion of the programme, you may progress to:
- Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art, Design and Media Practice
- Further study at another provider or university

- Careers in the creative industries, such as: Fine Artist, Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Photographer, Animator

Assessment
This programme is 100% internally assessed. You will be provided with written formative feedback during the exploratory phase of the programme. Summative assessment will be provided once, against all the assessment criteria, at the end of the confirmatory phase of the programme.
You will be assessed through:
- Practical projects and assignments
- Sketchbooks and portfolios
- Written evaluations and reflections
- Final major project

Home Study
You will be expected to complete independent work each week to support your studio practice and project development. This may include research, sketchbook work, and preparation for assessments. Access to a computer and internet is recommended for research and digital work.

Work Placement
You will have opportunities to gain real-world experience through placements and collaborations with industry professionals, helping you to develop your skills and understanding of the creative sector.

Fees and Additional Costs
All students are asked to contribute £15 towards the College Subscription Fund and £100 towards creative materials per year. This includes general day to day tools and materials. Offsite visits to museums and galleries will also incur a separate cost. Financial support may be available.
