Description
In this practical and engaging programme, you will explore a range of topics across three core trades. By the end, you will have gained basic skills in each area, giving you the knowledge and confidence to move forward in your chosen trade. You will cover:
- Carpentry: Introduction to tools, basic woodwork, and essential techniques like sawing, measuring, and jointing.
- Plumbing: Learn about pipework, fittings, and basic installations used in domestic plumbing.
- Electrical Installation: Get to grips with wiring, circuits, and the safe use of electrical equipment.
- Health & Safety: Understand the vital health and safety regulations needed to work safely on any construction site.
- Workplace Skills: Develop communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills essential for success in construction environments.

Entry Requirements
Maths and English grades of at least a 2 are needed. For those with Maths and English grades lower than a 4, you will be supported to develop these grades alongside your Multi Trades study programme.
No previous experience is required for this programme, just an interest in construction and a willingness to learn. A positive attitude and a commitment to developing hands-on skills will help you get the most out of this programme. You should be comfortable with basic computer functions and applications including accessing the internet and word processing. Parts of your programme may be delivered using Microsoft Teams. Training for this application will be provided.

Progression
Once you complete the Level 1 Construction Multi Trades, you will be well-prepared to specialise further. You can choose to progress onto a Level 2 Transition Pathway for Building Services Engineering or Onsite Construction which will develop your skills further and prepare you for a T Level in your chosen occupational specialism (Carpentry and Joinery, Electrotechnical Installation or Plumbing). You may also choose to consider an apprenticeship to gain more hands-on experience while working in the industry.

Assessment
Your progress will be assessed through a combination of practical tasks, projects, and coursework. These will demonstrate your ability to complete essential tasks in each of the three trades. You will receive feedback to help you improve and succeed. You will also take some multiple choice exams covering Health and Safety, Construction Technology.

Home Study
You will be expected to complete some homework to reinforce what you learn during practical sessions. This might involve research, written tasks, or planning for practical projects, all aimed at deepening your understanding and preparing you for the next step in your construction career.

Work Placement
You may have the chance to participate in work experience where you can gain hands-on experience. You will also engage with inspiring speakers from the industry who will share insights about their roles and career paths. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to visit various workplaces to observe professionals in action.

Fees and Additional Costs
If you are over 18 there will be a registration fee of £95.00 if you have not previously registered with the exam board. You may be required to purchase work wear such safety boots and trousers. Prices can be discussed prior to enrolment.
