Access to HE: Sport Science Level 3 Diploma
This course is designed for those who wish to pursue further studies in Sports Science or Physiotherapy. It is an intensive course aimed at adult learners who currently lack the qualifications to move on to studying at university.
The course runs one day a week, is modular and delivered through a combination of taught sessions, lectures, research and independent study. Subjects covered include human physiology and sport sciences, alongside non-graded study skills unit.
The aim of this course is not just to instil some understanding of the sector but also to introduce students to the world of academia. Emphasis is placed on reading, researching, note taking, and writing for academia, particularly using appropriate resources and referencing using the Harvard referencing system.
Students must be 19+ and preferably have GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 and above.
L3 Access to Higher Education Diploma: Sports Science
Students may progress onto a degree course in Physiotherapy or Sports Sciences. The course also supports overall employability skill.
Assessment is completed through graded and non-graded assignments which are subject to the quality assurance process. There is one externally set exam in June.
All students will be expected to complete a minimum of seven hours per week self study and additional reading/assignment work.

Students will need to pay the exam entry fee of £190.00.

14 - 18 year olds
In most cases students aged 14-18 years old on a substantial study programme will NOT be required to pay fees and most course-specific equipment and materials will be funded by the College. This excludes stationary, non-curriculum trips and a £15 enrichment fee.
19 years and over
Students aged 19 years and over may be required to pay fees. For details of fee remission and loans for students over the age of 19 click here.
