  • Description

    Continue your journey into dance with this improvers course. Improvers 1 creates a space to develop your knowledge and understanding of the different step variations and can help build on your current ballroom skills. Enhance, learn and develop your passion for the art of ballroom with this exciting 8 week course.

    What will I learn?

    • improved partnering skills
      • improved timing in the dancing -increased confidence and style in the dancing

    You will need to bring the following to the first session: a bottle of water, loose comfortable clothing and preferably soft-bottom footwear. Please do not wear stilettos.

  • Entry Requirements

    You will be asked to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire before the first class. Failure to complete the questionnaire may result in the student not being able to participate in the class. If anyone wishes to see a copy of the questionnaire before enrolling, they may contact the Student Services team on 01635 845000 to request a copy.

    You should have completed the Beginners course before enrolling on this level or have some basic Ballroom dance experience.

  • Qualification

    This course does not lead to a formal qualification.

  • Progression

    You can progress onto Ballroom and Latin Dance Improvers Level 2.

  • Assessment

    You will be assessed through tutor observation, an individual learning plan and tutor/peer feedback.

  • Home Study

    Homework is not essential, although you will benefit from practising the steps at home.

  • Work Placement

    You do not need to be in relevant work to undertake this course.

Fee information

14 - 18 year olds

In most cases students aged 14-18 years old on a substantial study programme will NOT be required to pay fees and most course-specific equipment and materials will be funded by the College. This excludes stationary, non-curriculum trips and a £15 enrichment fee.

19 years and over

Students aged 19 years and over may be required to pay fees. For details of fee remission and loans for students over the age of 19 click here.
