Machine Sewing Workshop
Extend your machine sewing abilities with this one-day workshop. Created by popular demand, this follow up to our beginner's course will give you the opportunity to develop your skills further and take on new sewing challenges.

This one-day course will focus on creating items from pre-cut kits with easy step-by-step instructions and tutor support. You will learn how to make small and useful items on your sewing machine with activities that demonstrate useful sewing techniques.
If you have a pre-loved item of clothing that you would like to reinvent or upcycle, then this is also a great opportunity to bring it back to life.
You will need to have a basic working knowledge of machine sewing, ideally having taken our Beginners course or experience using your own machine.
There are no formal qualifications attached to this course.
You can progress to the Machine Sewing Improvers course at Newbury College and attempt more advanced projects. You may also want to consider other creative courses such as drawing and painting.
This is a non-accredited short course. You will be able to self-assess your own achievement through your ability to carry out the skills you learn during the course.
This is a one-day course and no homework will be set. You are however encouraged to continue practicing the skills you learn and put them into practice.
Work placement is not included on this programme.

There is a £10 fee for materials which is included in the price.

14 - 18 year olds
In most cases students aged 14-18 years old on a substantial study programme will NOT be required to pay fees and most course-specific equipment and materials will be funded by the College. This excludes stationary, non-curriculum trips and a £15 enrichment fee.
19 years and over
Students aged 19 years and over may be required to pay fees. For details of fee remission and loans for students over the age of 19 click here. Please note that some courses may have additional registration, examination and/or materials fees. Where we have been unable to provide these additional costs in this information, they will be discussed with you prior to enrolment.
